600 file nominations for 70 seats in Utt’khand


600 candidates have so far filed their nominations for 70 assembly seats in Uttarakhand where polling is scheduled to be held on 30th January.

The exact number of candidates who have filed nominations till expiry of deadline on Thursday evening, would be known later, Uttarakhand Chief Election Officer Radha Raturi said.
State minister Matbar Singh Kandari (BJP), former minister Nav Prabhat (Cong), and Manish Tiwari (Cong), nephew of veteran Congress leader and former Uttarakhand Chief Minister N D Tiwari were among those who filed their nomination papers on the last day on Thursday.
The scrutiny of nomination papers would be held on Friday while the last date of withdrawal of names is 16th Jan.Both ruling BJP and main opposition Congress have fielded their candidates on all the 70 seats in the hill state where nearly 64 lakh voters are expected to exercise their franchise.
