Police allow protestors to gather at India Gate

Delhi gang-rape: Rahul asked students for rational suggestions :  At the meeting with a students protesting against the Delhi gang-rape, Rahul Gandhi asked students to give suggestions rationally. Peaceful protests are now being held a India Gate. Women protestors have formed a human chain.
Extending his support to the protests by youths demanding justice for the Delhi gang-rape victim, anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare on Sunday called for stringent laws and fast-track trials in such cases.Delhi: Water cannons fired to quell protests:   Police fire water cannons outside Rail Bhawan in New Delhi to quell protests against the gang-rape of a 23-year-old.
The crackdown continued as protestors broke police barricade. Several protestors were lathicharged.
“Youths gathered on the streets to demonstrate are passionate patriots. Their anger and the non-violent ways of demonstration shows that they have full faith in the country’s democratic system and the Constitution,” Hazare told PTI at Ralegan Siddhi, his native place in the district on Sunday morning.
With Section 144 imposed from Vijay Chowk to India Gate has been removed after PMO office intervention. As Section 144 has been removed and  PMO office monitoring the ground situation the people granted permission for protests and Police allow protestors to gather at India Gate :   Sonia Gandhi listening to protesters in presence of MoS for Home RPN Singh: who said he will put rape cases in fast track courts:  The Delhi police has given permission to protestors to gather at India Gate. But still  vehicles are not being allowed to enter, only protesters on foot can get in.MoS for Home RPN Singh said, “We have assured them that we will put them (rape caes) in fast track Courts and be treated as a rarest of rare cases.”
“We are considering their views on changing laws to deal with sexual harassment and have asked them to discontinue the protest. I request the people to maintain calm,” he said.”Did not just talk about the gang-rape victim but also about molestation in general. We discussed security in buses, metro, public transport. Capital punishment is still debatable, different people have different opinions,” he added.Earlier in the day the police at imposed Sec 144 (unlawful assembly) here.
As Section 144 has been removed there has been a sudden rise in the number of protestors.
The police had forcibly evacuated protestors from India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhvan and 10 Janpath.Media agencies
