With an estimated sum of US$620 billion spent on merchandising, media rights and sponsorships in the sports industry globally each year, and with around US$17 billion spent on London 2012 alone, sport is a big business. The Indian Sports Industry has also started witnessing various investments from the Corporates like IMG-Reliance in Football (Rs. 700 crore), Punj Lyod in Squash (Rs. 30 mn), Sahara in Hockey and Cricket (Rs. 206 Crore),  Jaypee group in Cricket and Motor Sports ( Rs. 400 mn).

Various leagues in different Indian sports like I-League (Football), HIL (Hockey), IBL (Badminton), EFLI (Rugby), IWL (Wrestling)  have brought the sports business into centre stage of an Indian Economy but there are various aspects related to ROI, Cost of Capital, Sustainability and so on which are yet to be  understood in India.
