CJI to inaugurate first ever fast-track court in Delhi to hear rape cases

Chief Justice of India Altamas Kabir will inaugurate a fast-track court in Delhi this evening to hear rape cases. The case of the 23 year old gang rape victim will be the first one to be heard in this court.  The court set up in Saket Court complex is among the four to handle all cases relating to crime against women. The Delhi Police plans to submit a 1000-page chargesheet in the metropolitan magistrate’s court in Saket tomorrow.  The case will then be moved to the fast-track court to hear it on a day-to-day trial basis. The other fast-track courts will function at Dwarka, Rohini and Tis Hazari in the city. All these courts will start functioning from tomorrow.
