SC Commission Investigates the Case of Haryana Youth

National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) Chairman, Dr. PL Punia said that the Commission is committed to deliver justice to members of Scheduled Castes communities. In such cases the accused would not be spared and will be booked under the appropriate sections of the POA Act, 1989. He added that whenever atrocity cases happen the commission team undertake on-the-spot investigations and also prescribe for the relief and rehabilitation measures.
In the incident of chopping off hand of a Scheduled Caste youth Rajesh in village Daulatpur P.S Uklana, District Hisar, Haryana, Dr. Punia immediately contacted D.M., Dr. Amit Agrawal and S.P., Shri Ashwin Shenvi and enquired about the incident and a central team under Joint Secretary Shri T. Theethan was deputed to see the victim and for detailed investigations. The District Magistrate informed that the victim is provided monetary assistance of Rs 50,000 and is provided free treatment at a private hospital. The State Govt. have also sanctioned a sum of Rs. 3.00 lakhs as a part of rehabilitation package. The S.P. informed that the accused is arrested and a chargesheet is being filed soon.
Dr. Punia said, "in order to perform Constitutional duties atrocity cases against members of Dalit communities are viewed seriously and justice is provided irrespective of any political party".
