Winter of Hope: Aam Aadmi Party’s New Initiative For the Homeless
After the clarion call given by the Chief Minister of Delhi Mr.Arvind Kejriwal  to the citizens and volunteers of AAP, for donating clothes and wollens to NGO’s .NGOs and well wishers of the AAP Government have started distributing clothes  Aam Aadmi Party continues with its sincere efforts to bring some relief to the poor and destitute this winter by launching the noble initiative ‘Winter of Hope’ under which clothes and woolens would be distributed by volunteers , citizens and civil society organisations  to homeless people living in more than 265 night shelters across Delhi.
After Government of Delhi opened 65 new Night Shelters this winter  which took care of the two basic necessities - food and shelter, It was felt that with the winters soon approaching, they would also need warm clothing without which it is difficult to survive the harsh climatic condition of Delhi.NGO’s , well wishers and AAP volunteers will distribute clothes, shoes and medicines this winter.
The initiative was kickstarted at the Sarai Kale Khan Night Shelter (managed by SPYM NGO) . Mr Dilip Pandey  inaugurated the campaign. After the inauguration of the campaign Mr.Pandey requested all Delhiites ,NGO’s and well wishers to donate as much as possible to this noble cause of humanity and help the homeless.
The shelter is a permanent one and is located near the Nizammuddin Raliway station and consists of a Night Shelter, a Recovery Shelter and a Mohalla Clinic.
The distribution commenced late in the evening , in an orderly manner at the recovery shelter, after the residents had their dinner.
Patients were distributed the clothes and shoes at their beds by well wishers of AAP Government . The residents were overwhelmed to receive the clothes and thanked the volunteers and the government for the noble service. “It is a great feeling that you have given thought to our basic needs, we are very thankful,” said one of the resident of the rescue shelter.
Mr.Dilip Pandey and other volunteers spoke to the residents of the shelter , they enquired about their well being and delivery of services  by the Delhi Government .
Recently, The chief minister of Delhi , Mr. Arvind Kejriwal had announced free breakfast will be distributed everyday in night shelters. Mr. Dilip Pandey was keen to inquire if breakfast was served everyday . He expressed his happiness when he was informed that breakfast was served everyday. He promised the residents of the shelter  that he would return next week to have breakfast with them.

This noble initiative by the NGO’s ,CSO’s , well wishers and  AAP volunteers  will continue throughout the winter and serve the needs  of the homeless at 265 shelters across Delhi.
