Chennayin FC wins ‘The Muthoot Group Fair Play Award’ at
Hero Indian Super League 2016

Chennayin FC top Fair Play standings with 1093 points, ahead of  Delhi Dynamos FC  at 1091 points and Kerala Blasters FC at 1078 points

Kochi, 18th December 2016: Chennayin FC was awarded ‘The Muthoot Group Fair Play Award’ at the Closing Ceremony of season - 3 of the Hero Indian Super League 2016. The team topped The Muthoot Group Fair Play standings with 1093 points ahead of Delhi Dynamos FC at 1091 points and Kerala Blasters FC at 1078 points.

‘The Muthoot Group Fair Play Award’ trophy was presented by Mr. Bijimon KR, Chief General Manager, The Muthoot Group to Mr. Abhishek Bachchan and Ms. Vita Jalaj Dani, co owners of Chennayin FC.

Speaking at the occasion, Shri Bijimon K R, Chief General Manager, The Muthoot Group said, “It gives me great pleasure to present this special award - The Muthoot Group Fair Play award to Chennayin FC. The team has lived and reflected the innate values of the game and the values espoused by our group throughout the tournament. On behalf of The Muthoot Group, I congratulate each member of the team for this win and being an inspirational role model for displaying the values both on and off the field. I also take this opportunity to acknowledge the sterling role of the referees as brand advocates and ambassadors of Fair Play in the Hero Indian Super League.”

The Chennayin FC team consistently exuded the spirit of the game through values like integrity, reliability, respect and teamwork during the 10 week football league. Based on the number of Fair Play Points earned, the team secured the top position amongst the participating teams. Securing 1093 points, the team earned the highest position in The Muthoot Group Fair Play Award Standings list. With an aim to encourage the players to adopt fair practice during the football league, The Muthoot Group had announced ‘The Muthoot Group Fair Play Award' for the team that upholds the spirit of the game and fair play during the series.

The football league featured 8 teams – Chennayin FC, FC Goa, Atlético de Kolkata, Kerala Blasters FC, Delhi Dynamos FC, FC Pune City, Mumbai City FC, North East United FC comprising international and Indian players with 61 matches played in 8 cities across the country.
