KOLKATA SEED FESTIVAL
(27 TO 29 April, 2012)

Dear Friends,

We are happy to invite you to the ‘Kolkata Seed Festival: Celebrating and Conserving India's Rich Heritage of Crop Diversity' from April 27 to 29, 2012.

About 21 groups from 9 states of India, including 12 from 7 districts of West Bengal - working for in situ conservation and promotion of seed diversity and related knowledge -  are expected to participate. 

A brochure and poster of the Seed Festival is attached for your information.
Also attached is the 'Seed Declaration, India, 2012' and a newsletter covering the Mumbai-Pune Seed Festivals held in February 2012.

On the 27th April, there will be a seminar on 'Agro-biodiversity and Ecological Agriculture' from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm at WBVHA TOWER, 580, Anandapur, Kolkata -700 017, Near Monovbikas Kendra, a 5 minute walk from Ruby Hospital, south-east Kolkata.

On the 28th and 29th April (11 am to 7.30 pm), the main Seed Festival and exhibition will be held at 10 Middleton Street (outside Earthcare Books), near Jeevan Deep/'Maidan' station of the Metro Rail. Over 1200 varieties of different crop seeds will be on display, along with relevant posters and literature. Books, organic products, organic food and some seeds will be available on sale. The Festival will also feature parallel talks, presentations, film shows, and a cultural programme of song and music at the same venue.
