Case against Argentina President Cristina Kirchner dropped

In Argentina, Javier De Luca, the federal prosecutor before the court of appeals, has dropped accusations that Argentinian President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and her foreign minister had conspired to cover up Iran’s involvement in a 1994 Jewish center bombing in Buenos Aires. De Luca told the higher court judges in a 27-page document that there was not enough evidence to warrant a probe. The case had been brought by another prosecutor, Alberto Nisman, who died of a gunshot wound to the head hours before he was to present his findings before Congress. The case was rejected by a federal judge in February and then thrown out on appeal by the federal appeals court. The bombing case, as well as Nisman’s death, remains unsolved.

Morsi jailed for 20 years

Apr 21
A court in Egypt has sentenced former President Mohammad Mursi to 20 years in prison over the killing of protesters while he was still in power. It is the first ruling he has faced since his ousting and is one of several upcoming trials he faces. Mursi was deposed by the army in July 2013 following mass street protests against his rule.
Morsi was deposed by his then military chief and Minister of Defence Abdel Fattah el-Sisi after mass protests against his rule in the summer of 2013. With the coup, the former president’s supporters launched a series of protests and sit-ins across the country culminating in a crackdown by security forces that left hundreds dead.
In the deadliest incident, at least 817 protesters were killed in Cairo’s Rabaa al-Adawiya Square when security forces opened fire on a sit-in. Human Rights Watch (HRW) said the killings likely amounted to “crimes against humanity”.
Thousands have also been imprisoned, with many supporters of Morsi facing mass trials facing charges of involvement in violence.
At least 1,212 people have been sentenced to death since the start of 2014, including the head of the Muslim Brotherhood, Mohamed Badie.

AAP being run by Khap Panchayat with dictator at helm: Prashant Bhushan

Apr 21,
Prashant Bhushan, who was expelled from Aam Aadmi Party, has alleged that the party is being run by a Khap Panchayat with a dictator at its helm. Following weeks of public drama, AAP expelled founder members Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav along with two others late last night. Talking to media, Mr Bhushan said all dreams of a movement have been shattered by a small coterie and a dictator. He, however, said that there is no question of personal loss.
Yogendra Yadav questioned whether Pankaj Gupta and Ashish Khetan’s presence in the disciplinary committee, who were a party to the dispute, conforms to the natural spirit of justice. He said it is his duty to continue to take AAP’s spirit forward.
The decision to sack Prashant Bhushan, Yogendra Yadav, Anand Kumar and Ajit Jha from the party was taken by the party’s national disciplinary committee last night.
The committee was not satisfied with the response it got to the show-cause notice issued last week. AAP spokesperson Deepak Bajpai said, these leaders were expelled for gross indiscipline, anti-party activities and violation of code of conduct of the party.
Meanwhile, hitting out at party chief Arvind Kejriwal, AAP founder member Shanti Bhushan asked why he has not been expelled till now. Expressing displeasure over the expulsion of party leaders, Mr Bhushan said it is not an example of clean and democratic politics.

Venkaiah Naidu slams Congress over land bill

With most of parties on winning agrarian society the debate is not on the giving final touches to the land bill but disgracing each other format and bio-polar politics is to tarnish each other image rather than to sit down and work out best of the formats with consensus. In this context The parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu today slammed the Congress over the land acquisition bill and said before making any comment on it the party should keep in mind the number of ordinances they brought during their tenure. Talking to reporters after BJP parliamentary board meet in New Delhi, Mr Naidu said the land bill is the most progressive, pro-farmer and pro-rural legislation brought by the NDA government. He also said the government will counter the opposition with facts.
Meanwhile, newly elected General Secretary of CPI (M) Sitaram Yechury demanded that government should call an all party meet, instead of meeting parties individually. Hitting out at the government, Mr Yechury said government can not bring any new legislation by ignoring the opposition. He also said the land bill is anti farmer and will not help country in any manner.
