PM calls for evolving strategies to stop spread of Left Wing Extremism

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for evolving strategies to stop the spread of Left Wing Extremism and asked the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to play a key role in this regard. Chairing a high-level review meeting on tribal welfare, Prime Minister said, various Ministries and wings of the Central government should work in coordination to achieve this goal.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the concern Ministries to identify growth centres within tribal areas, and ensure proper development of education, health and sports facilities in the country. Mr Modi also stressed on technology penetration so that undeveloped tribal areas could be connected with developed areas through good infrastructure.

On health aspects, the Prime Minister stressed the need for mapping of sickle cell anemia among the tribal population. The Prime Minister has also called for concerned departments to explore the possibility of a cure for this disease through stem cell therapy. The Prime Minister also instructed the NITI Aayog to involve research institutions, and eminent experts in all aspects of planning for tribal areas.
