Tamil Nadu vs Uttarakhand men & Chhattisgarh vs Delhi women

Bhilwara, Rajasthan: In the last semi-final match
of the day, Tamil Nadu men’s sustained scoring through four quarters saw
them beat Services 86-73 to enter the finals of the 65th Senior National Basketball Championship 2014-15.
The teams exchanged the lead as many as 14 times through the first 25 minutes of the game, but in the last quarter and a half, Services faltered time and again to hand the defending champions a 13 point win. Veteran international point guard from Services Sambhaji Kadam battled hard to stay in the match, but his injury troubles over the last year and a half meant that he had to frequently be taken out of the match. Without Kadam’s no-look passing wizardry, and with fellow international guard Joginder Singh being ineffective, the weight of scoring fell on India international Narender Grewal. But Grewal’s valiant double double of 29 points and 11 rebounds barely allowed Services to match Tamil Nadu’s scoring runs.
For Tamil Nadu, internationals Amjyot Singh (power forward), Prasanna Venkatesh (small forward) and Akilan Pari (point guard) played as per their reputation. Captain Amjyot Singh led from the front yet again with 29 points and 13 rebounds. Akilan was the source of numerous highlight plays that included a half court buzzer beater at the end of the second quarter. On his part, Venkatesh came good with some timely three pointers. The scores were tied at 60 each at the end of the third quarter, but Tamil Nadu went on a 26-13 scoring spree in the last 10 minutes to seal its second straight finals berth.
Midway through the fourth quarter, Indian Railway took a slender four point lead only to watch it slip away as Chhattisgarh mounted another run of its own to take the match 83-79. Chaturvedi was particularly effective late in the fourth quarter with multiple And 1 plays, and her teammates did well to lob the ball to her deep inside the paint over the outstretched arms of the Railways frontline. This is the second time in two years that Chhattisgarh has toppled powerhouse Railways. Last year it had beaten the Railway women in the finals to end its decade long run as national champions.
Point guard Riyazuddin had 18 points and found his teammates on timely occasions to end up with 7 assists. Haryana were undersized against the Uttarakhand line-up and were outrebounded 40 to 29 in team rebounds. Uttarakhand’s 7-foot centre Amrit Man was another key factor for his team – he had 16 points and 13 rebounds in the game. Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu will now face each other in the placement match for 5th & 6th positions later this afternoon, and in the men’s section Karnataka will face off against southern opponents Kerala. Punjab vs Railways men and Telangana vs Karnataka women will be the other placement matches played later today for the 7th & 8th positions.

In a fascinating match between two high quality teams, defending champions Chhattisgarh came out aggressively in the first half to take a double digit lead at halftime. Delhi Women beat Kerala
An inspired Delhi side is through to the finals after beating Kerala in the 65th Senior National Basketball Championship 2014-15 that is underway in Bhilwara, Rajasthan. The balanced attack of Delhi saw crisp ball movement and excellent spacing that opened up easy and numerous scoring opportunities for the team from the national capital. Kerala features as many as four international stars in Poojamol KS, Stephy Nixon, Jeena PS and Neenumol, but tonight the stronger team on paper was outdone by the Delhi women. The three ‘Singh Sisters’ of Prashanti Singh, Pratima Singh and Akanksha Singh, along with fellow internationals Raspreet Sidhu and Preeti Kumari kept their composure to maintain a slender single digit lead all the way to the final buzzer. The Aam Aadmi Party appeals to the Delhi Police to impartially investigate the murderous assault on the party volunteers by the family members of South Delhi BJP MP Mr Ramesh Bidhuri, along with other hoodlums of the BJP on Saturday afternoon.
It is shocking that more than 24 hours after the AAP volunteers were attacked with sharp weapons in broad daylight in full public view, all of which is video recorded, the police is trying to soft pedal its investigation.
(Please find attached the copies of two FIRs – of the murderous assault on AAP volunteers and burning of the jeep of AAP Tuglakabad candidate, Sahi Ram).
The AAP demands that the culprits named in the statements of injured party volunteers should be immediately arrested for having committed the offence of attempt to murder.
The party is in the process of collecting further foolproof evidence of direct involvement of Bidhuri’s family members in the pre-meditated attack on AAP volunteers and this will be made public on Monday to expose the real character and intentions of the BJP.
Delhi Police must not compromise its image under political pressure from the union home ministry, which is trying to protect the culprits.
The police has already tried to give a wrong twist to the entire incident by calling a pre-meditated attack as a clash. Its image is at stake when the BJP is trying to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in Delhi, ahead of the assembly elections.

SURABAYA, 4TH JANUARY 2015 – The
search and rescue efforts led by The National Search and Rescue Agency
(BASARNAS) Republic of Indonesia continued this morning as weather
conditions marginally improved with waves of 1.5 – 2 meters.
Entering
the eighth day of the mission, the search operation area was expanded
to the east part of the Java Sea following the underwater current
forecast.
In
addition, more than 80 deep sea divers have been deployed in order to
get a visual confirmation on two large objects – suspected to be part of
the aircraft’s fuselage – captured by the sonar device yesterday as
well as the aircraft’s blackbox.
BASARNAS
recovered four more remains today as well as debris such as the
emergency exit window, luggage, passenger seats and survival kits, which
are believed to be from the aircraft. The remains will be transported
to Surabaya tonight for identification.
Meanwhile in Surabaya, The Disaster Victim Identification Police Department of Republic of Indonesia (DVI POLRI) today identified three remains of QZ 8501 guests as Wismoyo Ari Prambudi (male), Jie Stevie Gunawan (female), and Juanita Limantara (female). Sunu Widyatmoko, Chief

Rajasthan Government cancels mutation of land purchased by Robert Vadra’s firm

Rajasthan government has cancelled the mutation of a part of land purchased by Robert Vadra’s company Skylight Hospitality Private Limited in Bikaner district on the grounds that it was bought from fake buyers. It is alleged that a total of 360 hectares of land was bought by Mr. Vadra’s company in violation of the Rajasthan Land Ceiling Act but subsequently sold off to dozens of individuals at a huge profit.
