December 2014 CPI inflation at 5%

(Rural India inflation stands at 4.7% in December 2014 as compared to 4.09% in November 2014 and Urban India inflation stands at 5.3% in December 2014 as against 4.7% in November 2014)

The all India general CPI (Combined) for Dec 2014 stands at 5% as compared to 4.4% in Nov 2014. The inflation rates for rural and urban areas for Dec 2014 are 4.7% and 5.3% as compared to 4.1% and 4.7% respectively, for Nov 2014.

Rate of inflation during December 2014 is high in fruits at 14.84%, Milk and products at 9.62%, Condiments and spices at 7.89%, Pulses and products at 7.24% and Prepared meals at 6.61%.

Consumer Price Index for the month of December 2014 for rural, urban and combined stood at 146.7, 142.5 and 144.9, respectively.

In addition to this, Consumer Food Price Indices (CFPI) of December 2014 for rural, urban and combined stands at 150.3, 146.4 and 149.1 respectively. Provisional annual inflation rate based on all India CFPI (Combined) for the month of December 2014 stands at 4.78% as compared to 3.14% in the previous month. The corresponding provisional inflation rates for rural and urban areas for December  2014 are 4.74% and 4.87% respectively as against 3.33% and 2.48% respectively in November 2014.
