Russia ‘not considering’ limiting internet access

President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at a Security Council meeting in the Kremlin. In meeting of  Russia’s Security Council, President Vladimir Putin has said the problem of the country’s ‘informational space’ security is of top priority, but assured the state has no intentions of limiting access to the web.
We do not intend to limit access to the web, put it under total control, make the internet more governmentalized. We will not limit legal interests and possibilities of people, non-governmental organizations and businesses in the informational sphere,” Putin said at the meeting on Wednesday.
He added that such “unreasonable” and “total” restrictions contradict the basic principles of democracy, including the freedom of press and civil rights of access to and distribution of information. He said the state was “not even considering” such measures.
Discussing the issues of security of Russia’s “informational space” under “contemporary threats,” Putin mentioned that the global web contains sources that promote terrorism, xenophobia and religious hatred, as well as child pornography, drugs and suicide.
Such websites will not be tolerated, and will be consistently closed down, according to laws, that exist towards illegal content around the world, Putin said.
Addressing the issue of international cooperation in providing global informational security, Putin said that Russia, together with its BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) partners had strongly condemned mass electronic surveillance and collection of personal information, conducted by “certain state intelligence services.”
We can see that some countries try to use their dominant position in the global informational space to reach not only economic, but also military and political goals,” the president told the Security Council.
Putin also mentioned that Russian segment of the worldwide web is often being attacked, with the scale of such cyber-attacks depending on current political situation in the world.
Russia will protect its sovereignty in the sphere, Putin added, saying that Russian products and technology to provide security in the field are being developed.RT news

Chikkarangappa, Rashid on top at halfway stage

1102014

 ??????????
Eagleton – The Golf Resort, Bangalore, October 1, 2014: Bangalore’s Chikkarangappa and Rashid Khan of Delhi were the halfway leaders at the PGTI Eagleburg Masters 2014, the fourth Super Series event of the season. Chikkarangappa and Rashid both fired scores of five-under-67 in round two to be tied at the top with totals of nine-under-135. C Muniyappa, another Bangalore lad, is joint third along with Chandigarh’s Ajeetesh Sandhu at eight-under-136.

The cut was declared at one-over-145. Fifty-six professionals and one amateur made the cut.

Chikkarangappa (68-67), the current Rolex Rankings leader, hit it with pin-point precision on day two as he landed it within a foot for eagle on the seventh and birdies on the sixth, 11th and 13th. The 21-year-old, a double-winner on the PGTI this year, missed an albatross by a whisker on the seventh where his second shot from the left rough stopped inches from the cup. However, Chikka, playing at his home course, was not in top form with the putter as he squandered opportunities from five feet or less on several occasions.

“I set up easy putts for the eagle and three birdies today since all those shots landed within a foot. However, I wasn’t happy with the round as I had a lot of trouble with the putter. I missed it from five feet or less on almost nine occasions. I could’ve easily gone much lower with my score. I’ve had just two good putts in the last two days. Today’s best putt was a 12-footer for par on the 12th. The good news is that I’ve not dropped a single shot in the first two rounds. I’ll have to improve my putting if I have to have a shot at the title here,” said Chikkarangappa, who climbed from overnight tied fifth to the top.

Rashid Khan (68-67), the current Super Series points leader, too posted a 67 on day two to climb from overnight tied fifth to joint first. Khan’s early birdie on the second was neutralized by bogeys on the fourth and fifth where his tee shots were off target. He then rallied with six birdies to end the day as the joint leader. He narrowly missed an eagle from 10 feet on the par-5 10th and converted a 25-footer for birdie on the 14th.

Rashid said, “The bogeys on the fourth and fifth meant I was one-over after six holes. But I made a strong comeback after that. The round puts me in a good position for the last two days. I’ve had a good season on the Asian Tour so far and that is also reflecting in my performances on the PGTI. The experience of playing at different venues and in varying conditions in Asia has also helped me with my game in India.”

Round one joint leader Ajeetesh Sandhu (66-70) slipped to joint third after a 70 on day two. He shares third place with another local favourite C Muniyappa (69-67) who came up with a 67 on Wednesday. Eagleton has been Muniyappa’s happy hunting ground as he won his maiden title here in 2009.

Chandigarh’s Harendra Gupta and Manish Goyal of the DLF Golf & Country Club share fifth place at seven-under-137.

Angad Cheema of Panchkula came up with the day’s best score of six-under-66. His round featured an eagle, seven birdies, a bogey and a double-bogey. Cheema sank a 20-footer for birdie on the fourth and a 30-footer for eagle on the seventh to make the cut by one shot at one-over-145.

Partnering with India’s biggest superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment & ZEEL’s production arm Essel Vision Pvt Ltd, Zee TV brings viewers the biggest entertainment extravaganza with the hottest celebrity panel ever – ‘Maruti Suzuki Alto K 10 Dil Se Naache Indiawale Copowered byAskmebazaar.com & L’Oreal Paris Fall Repair 3X’.
Dil Se Naachein Indiawaale will be India’s first ever multi-city dance tour in search of the happiest dancer! Conducted through a joyride on a special ‘Happy Dancing’ bus, the tour will reach Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Indore in the coming days with a star-studded panel called the ‘Agents of Happiness’ comprising none other thanShah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Farah Khan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani and Vivaan Shah. Dil Se Naachein Indiawaale, as a platform, calls for entries from dance enthusiasts across the length and breadth of the country to send in their ‘Happy Dancing’ videos and the shortlisted dancers will win an opportunity to showcase their acts in front of the ‘Agents of Happiness’.
From amongst the online auditions that have been pouring in, nurse Nora Johns who hails from Delhi has managed to impress the creative team of the show with a spirited video and has earned herself a position in the competition. Someone who spends all her days tending to patients and cheering them up, turns to dance behind closed doors to cheer herself up. Not perhaps the most technically flawless dancer, Nora still manages to bring a smile to people’s faces when she moves.

Namit Sharma, Programming Head, Zee TV says “With Dance India Dance, we celebrated dance as an art form. With ‘Dil Se Naachein Indiawaale’, we celebrate it as a ‘heart’ form. It’s the first-of-its-kind television show to set out on a multi-city bus ride in search of the happiest dancer. We’re extremely pleased to partner with Shah Rukh in bringing this proposition alive. We are not looking for trained dancers who’re perfect with their technique; we’re looking for that contestant who can bring a smile on to people’s faces with their happy dancing. Nora’s case intrigued us as here’s a lady who serves people all day long and little does one imagine that there must be this interesting dimension to her personality. But here she is … dancing her heart out and spreading cheer. We’re looking for people like that! ”
A visibly excited Nora said, “Since childhood, I’ve been passionate about dance and music, though I am not a trained dancer but love to shake a leg whenever possible. I had undergone spine surgery five years ago, but my passion for dance drove me to recovery. Even, during my wedding, while everyone was enjoying the music & food, being a bride I was told not to dance but I ended up dancing on stage. I just need a reason to celebrate dance. It’s not just me, my five years old son also joins me and we both just bring the house down with our masti.”
With the hottest celebrity panel ever on Indian television, an all-new genre of dancing and the first-of-its-kind dance tour with a mission to spread joy and happiness across the country, Dil Se Naachein Indiawaale, promises to be the biggest entertainment extravaganza this Diwali!
‘Maruti Suzuki Alto K 10 Dil Se Naache Indiawale Copowered by Askmebazaar.com & L’Oreal Paris Fall Repair 3X’ is slated to go on air in October only on Zee TV.

A ‘Bandhan’ Welcomed Warmly by Viewers

1102014

Grand opening to ‘Bandhan … Saari Umar Humein Sang Rehna Hai
further strengthens Zee TV’s robust fiction line-up

Zee TV’s latest primetime fiction show Bandhan … Saari Umar Humein Sang Rehna Haithe first-of-its-kind to delve into an astonishing relationship between a little girl Darpan and Ganesha, a new-born elephant calf that she accepts as her younger brother, has opened up to a very promising viewership of 4366 TVTs, making it the second highest opening soap across GECs in the year 2014, second only to Zee TV’s immensely popular Jamai Raja which had clocked in 5488 TVTs – the highest opening for a soap in the last 2 years!

With more and more viewers tuning into sample this heartwarming story of sibling love between man and animal, Bandhan’s launch day ratings of 4325 TVTs have seen a day-on-day increase, closing the week with 4711 TVTS on Friday.

Zee TV’s fiction line-up is growing from strength to strength with one successful launch after another. With Kumkum Bhagya seeing a 171% growth  during its shaadi highpoint (first 4 wk average: 2963 TVTs  & the Shaadi event: 8043 TVTs) and gaining slot leadership in week 34, Jamai Raja emerging as the quickest gainer and attaining slot leadership within 3 weeks of its launch and Jodha Akbar being the consistent slot leader for over a year now, the channel clearly rules the weekday primetime!

Zee TV Business Head Pradeep Hejmadi says, “The consistent growth of our fiction programming speaks of our relationship with audiences that has only evolved and strengthened over the years. Telling extremely relatable stories that represent the core fabric of contemporary Indian culture, Zee TV’s shows have not only struck a chord with the viewers – but given them role models to look up to and fascinating characters they wish they had as their own friends or family. Zee TV represents hope – every story resonates with our core proposition of Umeed. While Jamai Raja challenges conventional mindsets by placing the responsibility of stringing a family together on the son-in-law instead of the bahu, Bandhan transports viewers to a very different world where man accepts an animal as a part of his family and explores the relationships that grow out of it.  We aim to further push the envelope by venturing into genres not attempted before and  stories told from a fresh perspective.”

Creator and Producer Siddharth Kumar Tewary says “I had complete conviction in the thought of telling a human-animal story and the opening ratings are a clear indication of the same. We are happy that our effort of over 2 years is being appreciated by the viewers.  L’il Darpan & the baby elephant Ganesh’s innocent bond of sibling love has struck an instant chord with viewers across all age groups. The journey of the Karnik family has just begun, more interesting facets of their bond with Ganesh are yet to be explored. It’s a complete family entertainer. Keep watching…these unlikely brother & sister will become a part of every family.”

Produced by Swastik Productions,  Bandhan transports viewers to a world significantly different from the concretized, urban world most of us inhabit. Set in a real jungle, the show follows little Darpan and her elephant brother on a journey of love & struggle in the big bad world. Stay tuned to Bandhan … Saari Umar Humein Sang Rehna Hai  every Monday to Friday at 7 PM, only on Zee TV.

This will include dismantling of safe havens and terrorist and criminal networks. Dear Friends from the Media
The last three have been an amazing journey where many of ‘aam’ folks have discovered the country as well as our own selves through the IAC movement and then through AAP. However, every adventure ends and our adventure too ends here. Anjali and I have been battling between our family life, our careers and our party responsibilities. Both of us could not cope up with the multi tasking that we had to do. But, we had decided that we would not give up abruptly and would wait till the Mission Vistaar team would come to Maharashtra. Now that Prithvi Reddy and Atishi have taken up the State, it was a huge sigh of relief for us.
Both Anjali and I have resigned as State Convener and State Secretary of Aam Aadmi Party Maharashtra and from the State Executive as we need to give attention to our personal life. We continue to be a supporter of AAP and will always be there to help the party in any way.
We thank you friends from the media, for your support in the past three years. We may have been at loggerheads often but overall we are grateful for your support to us personally, to AAP and to the nation. We request you to take this in the right spirit, we do not wish to give any reaction and sincerely request you to constructively put it before the people. Please understand that for us, everything is not politics. We are some genuine people who have our own set of problems.
Both Anjali and I jointly make a request your continued support to AAP
Thanking each one of you.
Jai Hind!

Recognising the strategic acumen of corporates in India

1102014
Dear Colleagues,
With great pleasure I would like to share an update of Porter Prize 2014 event that was held on September 26, 2014 at Radisson Blu Plaza, Mahipalpur, Delhi. It was an exciting gathering of eminent people from intelligentsia, civil society, business and media etc. The most pertinent thing about the gathering was sharing of ideas and the platform that reflects cutting edge perspectives, powerful reflection and implementable ideas.
The event initiated at 04:30 PM with thought provoking panels on Economics, Social Progress & Creating Shared Value and Strategy & Competitive Advantage. We also had keynotes from Professor Michael E. Porter, Sanjiv Mehta, Sashi Ruia and Etienne Benet. The day culminated with a celebration of strategic acumen of Indian coporates through the Porter Prize ceremony wherein Deborah Wince Smith (President and CEO, US Council on Competitiveness) presented the citation to the enterprises recognised.
It is time to celebrate the enterprises and strive to emulate the best practices that they reflect so as to take India forward and make it a competitive nation.
I would like to personally thank all the enterprises that participated in the initiative, partners and the other stakeholders involved.
We look forward to continuing the legacy of the awards in the coming years and make it a success in future. Process for the next awards scheduled to take place in September 2015 will start from April 2015 with nominations.
For more information about the awards you can look at www.porterprize.in or write to me atamit.kapoor@competitiveness.in
Look forward to your continuing support.
Regards,
Amit Kapoor
Honorary Chairman
Institute for Competitiveness, India

Keynote by Professor Michael E. Porter

Professor Porter congratulated everyone on participating in the incredible process. He shared his passion for competitiveness and its practice. Very significantly, he asserted the hitherto thought agendas of economic strategy & social progress as separate pursuits actually needed an integrated approach. This he further said was not a balancing exercise between two conflicting either or agendas but a blend was mandated. Apart from sharing the macro and micro elements of his competitiveness framework, he exhorted Indian corporate to carry a deeper sole search as to how it would impact the society and economy. It was interesting to hear him say philanthropy was important but not very important because business serves society better by creating better products, sourcing raw material efficiently and generating useful infrastructure. He even said countries which are self-critical have better leverage their natural endowments. He underlined the role of successful clusters and emphasized that creating jobs with low wages was not adequate.
