Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATA) Awards DataWind
for Outstanding Product Achievement

Ottawa, Canada/ New Delhi, 30 May 2013: At its 28th Annual Innovation Awards Gala, the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance announced DataWind as the winner of the 2013 McCagueBorlack Outstanding Product Achievement Award. 

The CATA Alliance Innovation Awards are one of the most prestigious awards in Canada’s technology community, intended to celebrate the best-of-the-best award-winners across the spectrum of advanced technology areas.  For nearly three decades, the CATAAlliance Innovation and Leadership Awards Gala Dinner has been celebrating the best in Canadian advanced technology. It has become one of the most eagerly awaited events in Canada’s business calendar.

In association with the Telfer School of Management, DataWind was chosen by a selection committee consisting of members of CATA’s Board of Directors and industry experts. Voting by CATA members through an online voting poll was also taken into consideration.

The award recognizes DataWind’s development of the world’s lowest cost tablet computers in the form of the Aakash2, and lowest cost phablet, commercially sold as theUbiSlate 7C+.  The products not only break the affordability gap for billions of people globally, but also help them join the internet revolution using DataWind’s breakthrough web delivery platform.  Offered through DataWind’s UbiSurfer browser, this patented technology reduces bandwidth consumption by factors of 10x to 30x, allowing the delivery of web pages across even congested GPRS networks in 5 to 7 seconds.  The DataWind UbiSlate 7C+ tablet computers incorporate quad-band EDGE cellular modems, which coupled with this powerful technology, allow the fastest internet access in the remotest locations.
