Railway Revenue Earnings up by 19.72 per cent during April- October 2012
The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during 1st April to 31st October 2012 were Rs. 68671.58 crore compared to Rs. 57359.88 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 19.72 per cent.

The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs. 38090.19 crore during 1st April – 31st October 2012 to Rs. 47386.64 crore during 1st April – 31st October 2012, registering an increase of 24.41 per cent.

The total passenger revenue earnings during 1st April – 31st October 2012 were Rs. 18017.12 crore compared to Rs. 16305.84 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 10.49 per cent.

The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 1783.27 crore during April-October 2012 compared to Rs. 1619.68 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 10.10 per cent.

The total approximate numbers of passengers booked during 1st April – 31st October 2012 were 5002.49 million compared to 4817.02 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 3.85 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the numbers of passengers booked during April-October 2012 were 2600.52 million and 2401.97 million compared to 2518 million and 2056.95 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 3.84 per cent and 4.52 per cent respectively.
