Eat a mix of variety of food: the message behind Annakut festival
New Delhi, Tuesday, November 13, 2012: Annakut or Goverdhan festival involves offering to GOD and then eating food prepared by mixing 56 kinds of vegetables, called 56 Bhog. 

It’s a day of having collective food or in gathering. The food is prepared in common kitchen and then eaten.
 The festivals propagates the message of importance of eating mixed vegetables said Padmashri and Dr B C Roy National Awardee Dr KK Aggarwal President Heart Care Foundation of India.

 The current nutritional guidelines also emphasize that 50% of the diet should be vegetables and fruits.
 As per Ayurveda also one should eat all seven colours and six tastes in the diet.
 When we are eating a mix of vegetables it should be well cooked so that it remains hygienic.
