Datanet India launches ElectionsinIndia.com
New Delhi, October 18, 2012;
Datanet India, which is a decade old ITeS company, has launched a web portal www.electionsinindia.com in a small ceremony. This web portal offers its services to provide parliamentary constituency-wise election data for all the parliamentary and assembly constituencies in India, since independence, along with the latest election results of rural, urban local bodies and socio-economic statistical data of district(s) which falls under a parliament constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, Director of the portal Dr. R.K. Thukral, said,
“In India, one level of election is related to another level of election. As a whole, electioneering constitutes a network of election politics in contemporary India, and the election system has been the pillar of the Indian democratic regime. In a sense, elections form the essence of Indian democracy”.
Dr. Thukral further briefed the media that through this web site the users would have access to the parliamentary constituency–wise election data for all the 543 parliamentary and 4120 state legislative assembly constituencies in India, since independence. Along with latest election results of rural, urban local bodies and socio-economic data of district(s) that fall under a parliamentary constituency, on one platform. The socio-economic statistical data includes all the major categories like Agriculture, Bank & Finance, Crime & Law, Demographics, Economy, Education, Environment & Forest, Health & Family Welfare, Industries & Mining, Infrastructure, Labour & Workforce, Media, Social & Welfare Schemes, Travel & Tourism and Housing. Further, Polling-station-wise results for parliamentary and assembly constituencies have also been provided for the last elections held. He expressed that all the above useful information which is available for the first time on one platform would enable users to make useful analysis, reports and to get effective inputs for election speeches or presentations which will further enhance their readiness for the coming elections. A nominal membership fee would be payable to access the site.
Datanet India has launched its first web portal www.indiastat.com in 2000 and since then has increased its services many fold. Indiastat.com, which is perhaps the most comprehensive e-resource of socio-economic statistical data about India and her states, is now a cluster of 50 associate sites, out of which 19 web sites are sector-specific and 30 web sites are state-specific. In January 2010, the company introduced www.districtsofindia.com which is a storehouse of authentic socio-economic district level statistical information for the country. Out of 642 districts of India as per the census 2011, the statistical data for 620 districts for all the major categories have been presented on DistrictsofIndia.com and it is now a cluster of 660 independent web sites. In April 2012, it has also launched 6 regional web sites which provide comprehensive information on main geographical regions of India by covering states and districts therein for various socio-economic aspects. Besides, the company has also published eight statistical publications as e-books.
Briefing on the occasion, company’s Managing Director Madan Bahal, apprised,
“Datanet India with its 720 web sites that include data on India, its sectors, regions, states and districts level web sites, rendering its unique services to the socio-economic research fraternity in India and abroad for the last 12 years and in these years, the profile of the registered members of Datanet’s web sites has grown tremendously”.
