AAP holds massive protest against Wahi; demanded resignation and sacking from the BJP
Aam Aadmi Party's North East Delhi unit held a massive protest against North MCD Councillor and Chairman Parvesh Wahi, who has been accused of sexual harassment by a woman official of the MCD. AAP demanded that the BJP leader resign immediately and be sacked by the BJP from the party.
The demonstrations against Wahi were led by the MLA of the area Mahendra Goyal, among other MLAs of Delhi. Apart from the presence of AAP MLAs and volunteers, local residents joined the protest in large numbers, as they have been highly dissatisfied with Wahi's performance as a councillor. The allegations against him have been made by a woman MCD official, currently functioning as the Deputy Director of Education. She has also accused the BJP councillor of forcing her to sign a file.
Aam Aadmi Party's Delhi Convener Dilip Pandey said, "It is utterly shameful that Parvesh Wahi, Chairman of North MCD, is facing such an abominable charge as sexual harassment. Instead of devoting themselves to public service, leaders of the BJP are being accused of indulging in such crimes against women. PM Modi's Delhi Police is turning a blind eye towards genuine criminal cases coming to light against BJP leaders, and instead spending all its resources in registering fraudulent cases against AAP MLAs and arresting them on a regular basis. It is as though Delhi Police has been reduced to a mere political tool for persecution of the Arvind Kejriwal Government and the AAP. The AAP urges the Delhi Police to seriously investigate cases against BJP leaders, and return their focus on protecting the people of Delhi and maintaining law & order."
Mahendra Goyal, the AAP MLA leading the protests against Parvesh Wahi, said, "Local residents of the area have been frustrated with the nefarious activities of their Councillor Parvesh Wahi for a long time. In addition, he has now been accused of a serious crime against a woman officer. This incident has brought to light once more the complete lack of interest of the BJP and its Councillors in serving the people of Delhi. We demand the immediate resignation of Parvesh Wahi for his involvement in a shocking and shameful crime against the woman officer from MCD. The BJP must sack him from the party if it has any sense of moral responsibility. We urge the Delhi Police to arrest Wahi and register a case against him."
