Triple suicide bombings in Chad kill at least 27 people

In Chad, at least 27 people were killed and 130 injured after a series of suicide bombing blasts on an island in Lake Chad. Security officials said the attacks were carried out on the island of Koulfoua on the Chadian side of Lake Chad on a busy market day yesterday.

The triple suicide bombing blast, carried out by four female attackers. Two of the blasts rang out from the centre of the market and a third in the street as people fled, security sources said. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the blasts but officials suspect the attacks were carried out by members of the Boko Haram armed group from neighoubouring Nigeria.
