DELHI’S DOOR CLOSED TO FDI IN MULTI – BRAND RETAIL

A significant yet unnoticed fall-out of the Delhi Assembly elections is that New Delhi will not be playing host to foreign retailers like Tesco, Carrefour, Walmart and others at least for the next five years. By overwhelmingly voting for the BJP and AAP, the citizens of Delhi have endorsed the stand of both these parties that are opposed to FDI in multi-brand retail.
Pointing this out, Mr. B. C. Bhartia, National President and Mr. Praveen Khandelwal, National Secretary General of Confederation of All India Traders said: “The voters of Delhi have vindicated our stand. With BJP and AAP winning 90% of the assembly seats, even if there is a re-election it is clear that one of these two parties will be running the Delhi government soon. The Centre’s policy on FDI in multi-brand retail has left it to the States to decide if foreign retailers can open stores in their geographic area. Neither the BJP nor AAP are going to permit this in Delhi in the coming years.”
“The trader community turning against the Congress was a big factor in the Delhi elections. With the winds of change blowing in the country, our group will be mobilising the full force of traders with votes numbering over 100 million to actively support the parties that are opposed to FDI in multi-brand retail,” added Khandelwal.

Gurbani Singh Wins the USHA All India Ladies & Junior Girls Amateur Golf Championship 2013 by Seven Strokes

Mumbai, December 19: A sublime Gurbani Singh rediscovered her winning ways after a gap of almost three months at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club (BPGC) course, when she carded a one under 70 on the final day of the USHA All India Ladies & Junior Girls Amateur Golf Championship 2013. Delhi based Gurbani finished the tournament with an overall score of 209, a huge seven shots clear of Bangalore’s Aditi Ashok, who ended up second on the leaderboard. Beginning the day with a five shot advantage, all Gurbani had to do was play consistent golf and the confidence showed as she raised her game a notch, carding the first and only sub-par round of the tournament. In fact, she did not have a single over par round at the BPGC, which stands testimony to her golfing abilities. Aditi carded her best round of the tournament (one over 71) and improved through the three days, but it was not enough to upstage her closest rival on tour.
With this win, Gurbani cemented her position at the top of the Indian Golf Union (IGU) Ladies Amateur Golf Tour Order of Merit list. Aditi also consolidated her second position on the same list. Gauri Monga, who came into the tournament in a rich vein of form, securing three victories in three months on the tour as well as a creditable fifth place finish in the Ladies Indian Open finished a tame fifth with a score of 225. Gursimar Badwal (220) and Ridhima Dilawari (224) finished in third and fourth positions respectively.
Aditi also won the Category A section of the tournament with Ridhima finishing second. Category B witnessed some excitement when eventual winner Ananya Datar and Shruti Shenoy both finished with identical scores of 245 to force a playoff. Ananya eventually came through in the third playoff hole. Sifat Sagoo (247) prevailed over Pranavi Urs (251) in the Category C section.
Tomorrow will see the beginning of the Match Play format of the tournament. The top 16 finishers in the Ladies Stroke Play format have qualified for the same and the final rounds are scheduled to be played on Monday, December 23, when badminton ace Saina Nehwal will be at hand to felicitate the winners.

Wolfgang Pech, Sr Vice President at Deutsche Messe  presented comprehensive global plan of CeMAT. In his presentation of  CeMAT enunciated its vision and global preparedness plan.
He further ticked plan for  Pan India Industries participation of various sectors thus not limiting the B2B classification but moving step forward to bring in best effort of Educational Technological Skill for Indian Company holistically.
New Delhi, Dec 19th 2013: Hannover Milano Fairs India Pvt. Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of two of the world’s leading trade fair organizers Deutsche Messe AG, Germany and Fiera Milano, Italy, today announces that CeMAT 2014, world’s largest fair for intralogistics scheduled to happen during May 19-23, 2014 in Hannover, Germany will focus on innovative and energy-saving forklifts and industrial trucks, complex fully automated conveyor systems, shelving and warehousing systems or the latest developments in IT – every section of the Intralogistics industry will be represented at CeMAT in Hannover. On the sidelines of the announcement, it also divulges that the Indian material handling industry will be primarily driven by intralogistics with warehousing and logistics becoming the demand drivers. It is quite visible that there is also a growing demand for forklift vehicles in the fast-growing markets of the BRIC countries and the figure is growing in India too.
With a keynote theme of “Smart – Integrated – Efficient”, a complete range of Industrial trucks, cranes and hoisting gear, access platforms, shelving systems, factory equipment, pallets, containers, loading equipment, as well as complete plant installations will be demonstrated by the manufacturers and sole agencies at the world’s largest fair for intralogistics, CeMAT. Two new display categories – port logistics and transport logistics along with 5 main clusters of displays are being organized this edition that includes Move & Lift, Store & Load, Pick & Pack, Logistics IT and Manage & Service. CeMAT 2014 will also showcase used industrial trucks from the selected dealers during the fair and has placed an added emphasis on topics like port handling systems, retail logistics, bulk goods, packaged goods, pharmaceuticals, hazardous goods and disposal during the display.
Wolfgang Pech, Senior Vice President at Deutsche Messe said, “The intralogistics industry is highly innovative and global in nature and it requires a flagship fair geared to global market needs and demand. CeMAT provides this global platform for generating new business every two years. The show’s new topic clusters and expanded range of innovations will further enhance its status within the intralogistics industry.”
Hoshang Khumbatta, President, SIMHEM  & Executive Vice President, Godrej added, “The Indian material handling industry which currently stands at INR 900 crore market is still small compared to India’s economic growth but has immense potential. And to create awareness about the benefits of using material handling systems, a common platform like SIMHEM is essential to bring together material handling equipment manufacturers, dealers, suppliers, consultants and others associated with this field. The usage of forklifts is gradually increasing in India as well among other nations and a platform like CeMAT which focuses on  used vehicle business is becoming more and more important these days.”
“The MHE industry in India is in its developing stages as compared to the technologically advanced industries of Europe and China. India’s traditional affinity to manual labour is one reason for this; however the end users of the MHE industry are now starting to understand the importance of automation in factories and warehouses which will enable a tectonic shift in the way goods are moved within a facility in the next 4 to 5 years. There is going to be additional need for set up of ports, airports, warehousing and logistic sectors to support the growth of the manufacturing industry and overall economy”, concluded Mehul Shah, Managing Director, HMF India.
