Panasonic reports robust earnings
Panasonic has posted strong earnings for the fiscal year that ended in March.

Panasonic says its group sales in fiscal 2017 rose 8.7 percent from a year earlier, to about 73 billion dollars. Net profit jumped 58 percent, to 2.2 billion dollars.
The firm logged increases in both revenue and profit for the first time in 4 years.
Panasonic also predicts a profitable fiscal 2018. Sales are expected to grow 4 percent, net profit, 5.9 percent.
The executives say they believe battery shipments to US electric vehicle maker Tesla and other automakers will help push revenue higher. Sales of electric motors are also expected to increase.
